Charles Kahn Jr., Chairman
Charles entered the family business in 1946, immediately after serving in The Marine Corps in World War II and completing his B.S. in Business at Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, PA. Charles continued to broker and develop real estate opportunities for national oil companies, while specializing in site-selection and expansion of area movie theatres and drive-in facilities.
During his early years in the business, Charles earned membership designations as Certified Property Manager and American Society of Appraisers, then served as The Chief Appraiser for the Orphans' Court of The City of Philadelphia for ten years. Charles continued to increase his commitment to the community as well as The Board of Realtors, and was elected President of the Philadelphia Board of Realtors in 1977, and then President of The Pennsylvania Association of Realtors in 1980.
Motivated by an intense commitment to the Community, Charles has acted and continues to act as Board Member, Real Estate Advisor and Chief Property Consultant to a host of mainstay institutions in Metropolitan Philadelphia including several distinguished Universities and Colleges, area Hospitals, Churches, Federation of Jewish Agencies, Orders of Sisters, and community organizations such as the Police Athletic League and the YMCA.
Charles continues to handle selective brokerage and consulting work for clients throughout the City of Philadelphia from the Center City branch office.
Jim Kahn, President
Jim Kahn began his career in real estate in 1983. A 1977 graduate of Arcadia University, (B.A. in English), Jim spent his first few years at Kahn & Company specializing in the appraisal of commercial, industrial, institutional and residential real estate.
In the mid-1980's, Jim stepped into a more active brokerage role with the firm, handling a variety of assignments covering the complete gamut of non-residential real estate.
During the next several years, Jim sold or leased a wide variety of churches, gas stations, restaurants, convenience food stores, large industrial buildings, automobile sales and repair facilities, and office space throughout the five county Metropolitan Philadelphia region and Southern New Jersey. During the mid 1990's, Jim took over property and financial management for the company and has focused his efforts on the expansion of brokerage, acquisition, and Tenant representation during the last several years. Jim is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and Tri-State Realtors.
His recent Tenant assignments include the Exclusive Representation of three multi-county Sonic Drive-In Restaurant franchise Groups, as well as the expansion of Swiss Farms Convenience Stores.
Jim committed his life to the Messiah, Jesus, in 1991 and views his business as an opportunity to share with others the mercy, love, patience and blessings that he has received from the gracious hands of the Lord. Jim resides in Horsham with his wife and two children and has enjoyed managing Horsham Little League Baseball and coaching Soccer from 2002 through 2009. Jim is in his second year serving as the High School/Middle School Worship Leader and a Middle School Youth Leader at his home church, Chelten Baptist Church in Dresher, PA. He also leads a weekly Men's Bible Study group of area business leaders actively seeking growth in their relationship with the Lord.
Barbara Kahn, Broker
Barbara has been a Broker with the firm for over 35 years and has specialized in Office Tenant Representation. She has Exclusively represented the American Heart Association in the Metropolitan Philadelphia Area, and enjoys serving as a fundraiser for various institutions including Mercy Vocational High School, American Heart Association and Holy Redeemer Hospital.
Joe Whitelock, Controller
Joe joined the firm in 1986 and has served in the Position of Controller-Treasurer since that time. A 1978 graduate of Penn State University (B.S. in Accounting), Joe is responsible for overseeing the financial management of the company's and clients' real estate investments. Joe secured his Real Estate Salesman's License in 2001. He resides in Towamencin Township with his wife and (2) children, where he has served as elected Township Auditor.
